MTN Ghana has reaffirmed its commitment to promoting Ghanaian culture and community engagement by sponsoring major activities for the 2026 Ashanti Festival, officially launched in Kumasi. The company has invited the public to actively participate in the festival, which promises to be a celebration of the rich heritage and vibrant traditions of the Ashanti people.

Speaking at the launch, Simon Amo, Senior Manager for General Affairs (Northern Sector) at MTN Ghana, emphasized the company’s dedication to supporting both cultural and community events. He explained that MTN Ghana has been involved in the initiative since last year and has now taken a leading role in ensuring the success of the 2026 edition.

“We are here with the Regional Minister with the idea of a concert, and as a company, we decided to latch onto it. Today, we are proud to be part of the official launch of the 2026 version of this festival,” Mr. Amo stated.

He further detailed MTN Ghana’s sponsorship commitments, which include fully funding the festival’s grand concert in Kumasi. All ticket costs for the concert will be covered by the company, ensuring accessibility to all members of the public. Additionally, MTN Ghana has sponsored the launch event’s luncheon for invited guests, demonstrating its holistic support for the festival’s proceedings.

Beyond music and cultural entertainment, MTN Ghana is also supporting sporting activities as part of the festival’s lineup. The company is fully sponsoring a football gala, covering all associated costs including the venue, jerseys, trophies, refreshments for players, and prizes.

Mr. Amo emphasized that MTN Ghana’s involvement is not limited to these planned activities. “If the Regional Minister identifies additional areas where we can contribute, MTN Ghana is ready to collaborate further to ensure the success of the festival,” he said.

Highlighting the company’s motivation for involvement, Mr. Amo pointed out the intrinsic value of culture in shaping communities. “Culture is central to everything we do. As an African company, MTN Ghana identifies strongly with the culture of Ghana. It is through culture that communication and community values are transmitted from one generation to another,” he explained.

He also urged residents, stakeholders, media practitioners, bloggers, and content creators to actively promote and participate in the festival. According to him, such engagement will not only enrich the festival experience but also position the Ashanti Region as a cultural hub that attracts both national and international visitors.

“Let us all be enthusiastic and support this initiative. By participating and sharing these experiences, we can project the Ashanti Region to the world and showcase the richness of our culture,” Mr. Amo stated.

The 2026 Ashanti Festival, featuring music, sports, and cultural exhibitions, is set to run throughout the month, offering residents and visitors a vibrant platform to experience the traditions, arts, and community spirit of the Ashanti people. MTN Ghana’s sponsorship and call for public participation underscores the company’s commitment to cultural preservation, community development, and national unity.

This year’s festival is anticipated to draw large crowds, fostering social cohesion while promoting tourism, culture, and local economic activity across the Ashanti Region.
