The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has announced the successful completion of the selection process for the first batch of recruits, with 2,000 individuals slated to begin training as part of a nationwide enlistment exercise.
In a statement issued by Captain Veronica Adzo Arhin, the selected recruits are expected to report to their respective regional selection centres across all 16 regions on Wednesday, 18th March 2026, at 9:00 a.m. to collect their appointment letters and training prospectus.

The Armed Forces emphasized that this initial group represents the first of four batches scheduled for training under the ongoing recruitment drive. The military further reassured applicants who were deferred due to treatable medical conditions during the screening process, encouraging them to seek appropriate care. These individuals will be reconsidered for future selection without incurring any additional cost.
Notably, the first batch includes 18 individuals who were injured during the El-Wak Stadium stampede last year, as well as five others sponsored by families of victims of the tragedy. The inclusion of these candidates is a recognition of the incident’s impact and the resilience of those affected.
The GAF expressed gratitude to all 16 Regional Administrations for their support in decentralizing the recruitment process, aligning with government policy to enhance accessibility and efficiency.
Applicants who were not selected in this first phase have been urged to remain patient. The Armed Forces confirmed that further selections will be made from a pool of high-performing candidates. Special consideration will also be given to individuals from Sikaman in the Ashanti Region who played a critical role in last year’s helicopter crash rescue operations.

This nationwide recruitment drive underscores the Ghana Armed Forces’ commitment to building a diverse and capable military, while ensuring inclusivity for candidates from all walks of life.
