The Chief Executive Officer of Quality Steps Community School at Feyiase in the Bosomtwe District, Mrs. Mariam MacLean, has urged private school proprietors across Ghana to treat education as a mission of national service rather than purely a business venture.

Speaking during the school’s 5th anniversary celebration, Mrs. MacLean emphasized that the role of private schools extends far beyond generating revenue. She noted that private institutions play a crucial part in shaping the nation’s future and must therefore prioritize the intellectual, moral, and social development of their students.

“Education is not just a business; it is a responsibility,” Mrs. MacLean said. “Private schools must focus on nurturing disciplined, knowledgeable, and responsible citizens who can contribute meaningfully to nation building. When we place mission above profit, the rewards—both societal and institutional—will naturally follow.”

The milestone event, held at the school’s premises in Feyiase, brought together parents, teachers, students, community leaders, and stakeholders in the education sector to celebrate the school’s growth and achievements over the past five years.

Mrs. MacLean encouraged private school proprietors to invest in the necessary resources to enhance effective teaching and learning. She stressed the importance of providing adequate teaching and learning materials, improving infrastructure, and ensuring the continuous professional development of teachers. According to her, these investments are essential for creating an environment that promotes academic excellence and holistic development.

She further highlighted the significance of collaboration among private school owners, teachers, parents, and the wider community as a key factor in improving the quality of education delivered in private institutions nationwide.

The anniversary celebration featured vibrant cultural performances by students, reflections on the school’s journey since its establishment, and recognition of teachers and staff who have contributed to the institution’s growth and success.

Over the past five years, Quality Steps Community School has gained recognition within the Feyiase community for its commitment to academic rigor, discipline, and the moral upbringing of its students.

Mrs. MacLean reaffirmed the school’s dedication to providing high-quality education while nurturing the next generation of citizens capable of making meaningful contributions to their communities and the nation at large.
Her remarks serve as a call to action for private school proprietors nationwide to prioritize nation-building and the holistic development of students, ensuring that education fulfills its true purpose as a transformative force in society.
