The Fanteakwa South office of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) has stepped up its public education campaign to prepare residents for the forthcoming rainy season and to promote domestic fire safety within communities across the district.
As part of the ongoing awareness program on the Early Warning System for the anticipated rains, officials from the Fanteakwa South NADMO office visited the D/A Basic School at Nsutam on Wednesday, March 11, 2026. During the engagement, pupils and staff were educated on safety measures to adopt during heavy rains and storms, as well as precautionary steps to prevent domestic fires.

The outreach continued with another public education session at Gyampomani Township on Friday, March 13, 2026. The exercise formed part of NADMO’s broader strategy to sensitize community members on disaster preparedness ahead of the peak rainy period.
During interactions with residents, NADMO officials highlighted common hazards associated with the rainy season, including windstorms, rainstorms, lightning, and thunder. Participants were educated on the causes and effects of these disasters, along with practical mitigation measures households can adopt to reduce their impact.
The program also emphasized the economic and social consequences disasters can have on communities, including property destruction, loss of livelihoods, and potential threats to human life. Residents were urged to remain vigilant and to adhere to safety guidelines to minimize risks during extreme weather conditions.

Speaking during the program, Deputy Director Hon. John Kwame Narh (Sir John Bososo) underscored the importance of community participation in disaster prevention and preparedness. He urged residents to take the education seriously and apply the knowledge shared to safeguard lives and property throughout the rainy season.
Additional remarks were delivered by Samuel Adjei, who encouraged the public to cooperate with NADMO officials in promoting disaster awareness. Victoria Dwenase, the Zonal Coordinator, also addressed participants, reiterating the need for continuous public education and collective action to prevent disasters in the district.
The Fanteakwa South NADMO office has indicated that the public education campaign will continue in other communities across the district to ensure residents are well-informed and adequately prepared for the rainy season.
