The Mayor of Kumasi, Hon. Richard Ofori Agyemang-Boadi, held a stakeholder engagement with car dealers operating along the stretch between *Santasi Roundabout and Ahodwo Interchange* to discuss developments regarding the ongoing road construction project in the area.
The engagement was aimed at informing the dealers about arrangements being made to facilitate the smooth execution of the project while ensuring that their business interests are considered.
Addressing the stakeholders, the Mayor clarified that it is not the intention of the Assembly to permanently relocate the car dealers from their working areas but temporary, to allow the contractor to carry out construction works effectively and without obstruction.
Hon. Richard Ofori Agyemang-Boadi further noted that the contractor executing the project is currently working ahead of the scheduled completion date.
According to him, the project is expected to be completed within six months, after which the affected dealers will be allowed to return to their respective locations.
He also informed the dealers that some level of deforestation will take place within the affected areas to make way for proper measurement and construction of the road.
As a result, businesses and individuals operating within the designated zones will be required to temporarily pave way for the exercise. They will, however, be permitted to move back to their spaces once the deforestation in those areas are completed.
The Mayor appealed to the dealers to cooperate with the authorities by complying with the directives issued, emphasizing that their cooperation is crucial to ensuring the smooth and timely completion of the project.
In response, the car dealers expressed their understanding of the situation and assured the Mayor and the Assembly of their readiness to comply with the necessary directives to facilitate the construction works.
The engagement ended on a positive note, with both parties agreeing to work together to ensure the successful completion of the road project while safeguarding the interests of businesses operating along the stretch.
