The Member of Parliament for the Manso Adubia Constituency, Yaw Frimpong Addo, has extended warm Independence Day wishes to citizens of Ghana as the nation marks its 69th anniversary of independence.

In a message commemorating the historic occasion, Hon. Frimpong Addo joined millions of Ghanaians in celebrating the country’s remarkable journey since it gained independence from British colonial rule on March 6, 1957. He described the day as a powerful reminder of the courage, sacrifice and determination that led to Ghana becoming the first sub-Saharan African country to attain independence.

The independence struggle was spearheaded by Kwame Nkrumah, whose leadership played a pivotal role in securing political freedom and laying the foundation for Ghana’s democratic governance and national identity.

Hon. Frimpong Addo noted that Independence Day should serve not only as a moment of celebration but also as an opportunity for citizens to reflect on their responsibilities toward national development.

“Today, we celebrate 69 years of freedom, resilience and nationhood since our country gained independence on March 6, 1957,” he stated. “As we commemorate this important milestone, let us renew our commitment to unity, hard work and patriotism as we continue building prosperity and restoring hope for future generations.”

According to the legislator, the continued progress of Ghana depends largely on the collective efforts of its citizens. He therefore urged Ghanaians to remain united and committed to the shared vision of national growth and development.

Hon. Frimpong Addo emphasised that strengthening community spirit, promoting peace and fostering a culture of hard work are essential elements needed to move the country forward and ensure a better future for the next generation.

Ghana celebrates Independence Day every year on March 6 to commemorate its liberation from colonial rule in 1957, a milestone that ushered in a new era of self-determination and nation-building.

As the country celebrates its 69th anniversary, the Member of Parliament called on citizens to remain hopeful and dedicated to the ideals of unity, patriotism and service to the nation.

He concluded his message by wishing all Ghanaians a happy Independence Day and invoking God’s blessings upon the country.

“Happy 69th Independence Day. God bless our homeland Ghana.”
