The Member of Parliament for the Atwima Nwabiagya North Constituency, Frank Yeboah, has extended warm Independence Day wishes to citizens as Ghana commemorates its 69th anniversary of independence, urging Ghanaians to renew their commitment to unity, patriotism and hard work in building a stronger and more prosperous nation.

In a message marking the national celebration on March 6, the lawmaker reflected on the historic significance of Ghana’s independence from British colonial rule in 1957, describing it as a defining moment that laid the foundation for the country’s democratic journey and national development. The independence movement was led by Kwame Nkrumah, whose vision and leadership played a pivotal role in securing political freedom for the nation.

Hon. Yeboah noted that Independence Day serves not only as a moment to celebrate Ghana’s achievements but also as an opportunity for citizens to reflect on their shared responsibility in advancing national progress.

“Today, we celebrate 69 years of freedom, resilience and nationhood since the historic declaration of independence,” he stated. “As we commemorate this important milestone, let us renew our commitment to unity, hard work and patriotism as we continue building prosperity and restoring hope for future generations.”

According to the Member of Parliament, the continued growth and development of the country depend largely on the collective efforts of its citizens. He emphasised that regardless of political affiliation, ethnicity or religious background, Ghanaians must work together in the spirit of national unity to overcome challenges and promote sustainable development.

Hon. Yeboah further encouraged citizens to use the occasion to reaffirm their dedication to the values of peace, democracy and social cohesion, which he described as critical pillars for national stability and economic advancement.

He stressed that strengthening these values will help safeguard the country’s democratic institutions while ensuring that future generations inherit a stable and progressive nation.

Ghana celebrates its Independence Day annually on March 6 to commemorate the country’s liberation from colonial rule in 1957, a historic milestone that marked the beginning of self-governance and the emergence of a distinct national identity.

As the nation marks 69 years of independence, Hon. Yeboah concluded his message with a patriotic appeal, wishing all Ghanaians a joyful celebration and invoking divine blessings upon the nation.

“Happy Independence Day. God bless our homeland Ghana,” he said. 🇬🇭
