Presbyterian Senior High School, Bechem commemorated its 60th Anniversary with a grand durbar on Friday, February 28, 2026, in a colourful ceremony that brought together students, alumni, dignitaries, traditional leaders and members of the Presbyterian community to celebrate six decades of academic excellence and disciplined service.

The diamond jubilee celebration was marked by rich cultural displays, precision cadet parades and a series of tributes honouring distinguished alumni and personalities whose contributions have significantly elevated the image and reputation of the school over the years. The atmosphere was filled with pride and nostalgia as old students reconnected with their alma mater and reflected on the institution’s transformative impact on their lives.

In her keynote address, the Headmistress, Ms. Nancy Arthur, expressed profound gratitude to the founding fathers, past administrators, staff, alumni and stakeholders whose commitment and sacrifices have sustained the growth of the school since its establishment. She noted that for six decades, PRESEC Bechem has remained steadfast in its mission to provide holistic education rooted in discipline, integrity and academic excellence.

“Sixty years is not merely a milestone in time, but a testament to resilience, dedication and vision,” she stated. “Our school has consistently nurtured young minds to become responsible leaders and contributors to national development.”
Ms. Arthur used the occasion to appeal to government, alumni, corporate institutions and development partners to support ongoing efforts to improve the school’s infrastructure. She highlighted critical needs including the construction and rehabilitation of access roads within the campus, the provision of adequate furniture for classrooms and dormitories, and the supply of modern computers to enhance teaching and learning in the digital era.

She stressed that while the school has made significant strides in academic and extracurricular achievements, addressing these infrastructural challenges would further position PRESEC Bechem as a leading second-cycle institution in Ghana.
The durbar also featured recognition of outstanding alumni whose professional accomplishments in various sectors have brought honour to the school. Their achievements, speakers noted, serve as inspiration to the current generation of students to pursue excellence with determination and discipline.

The cadet corps captivated the gathering with a well-coordinated display of drills, reflecting the school’s long-standing tradition of discipline and leadership training. Cultural performances by students equally showcased Ghana’s rich heritage, adding colour and vibrancy to the historic celebration.

Many speakers at the event commended the school’s management and teaching staff for maintaining high academic standards and instilling strong moral values in students over the years. They encouraged the current student body to uphold the legacy of excellence that has defined PRESEC Bechem for six decades.

As the ceremony drew to a close, a renewed sense of unity and purpose permeated the gathering. The 60th Anniversary Grand Durbar not only celebrated the school’s storied past but also reaffirmed a collective commitment to strengthening its future.

With its rich heritage, dedicated leadership and supportive alumni network, Presbyterian Senior High School, Bechem stands poised to continue shaping generations of disciplined, knowledgeable and service-oriented leaders for Ghana and beyond.
