The Student Representative Council (SRC) of Prince of Peace Girls’ Senior High School has successfully organised its annual week celebration, Festum Pacis ’26, culminating in a colourful grand finale that saw Fortune Anambanga crowned winner of the school’s beauty pageant.

The week-long celebration, held on the school’s campus in Kumasi, was marked by vibrant cultural displays, philanthropy and student-centred activities aimed at promoting unity, creativity and community service. The programme received sponsorship support from Washington View Hospital and Promasidor, whose contributions played a key role in the success of the event.

Addressing a durbar of students and staff ahead of the official commencement of activities on Wednesday, February 25, the Headmistress, Mrs. Mary-Juliet Antwi Kyeremeh, expressed gratitude to God for His continued protection over the school community. She commended the SRC for its initiative and organisational competence, encouraging students to participate responsibly and uphold the school’s standards of discipline and excellence.

The celebration began with a colourful float, followed by a Candle Night and bonfire session, setting a reflective yet festive tone for the week. A friendly “mothers-and-daughters” cooking competition between female teachers and students added excitement to the programme, fostering stronger bonds within the school community. The day concluded with a movie show that further enhanced the spirit of togetherness.

In a demonstration of compassion and social responsibility, the school undertook a philanthropic outreach to an orphanage, where assorted items were donated. The outreach was complemented by games, health screening and a health talk, reinforcing the importance of community engagement and wellness awareness.

On Friday night, students treated their teachers to an “Old School Night,” taking them on a nostalgic journey through past musical and fashion eras. The event created moments of joy and reflection, strengthening intergenerational ties within the school.

The celebration reached its peak on Saturday with a grand finale featuring drama performances, captivating dance displays and the presentation of meritorious awards to deserving students. The highlight of the evening was the beauty pageant, where Fortune Anambanga, a Form Two General Arts 3 student, distinguished herself through confidence, eloquence and poise to emerge as the winner.

Festum Pacis ’26 once again showcased the vibrancy, discipline and holistic development that define Prince of Peace Girls’ Senior High School, reaffirming its commitment to nurturing leadership, talent and community consciousness among students.
