The Student Representative Council (SRC) of Prince of Peace Girls’ Senior High School has successfully organised its annual week celebration, Festum Pacis ’26, marked by vibrant activities that promoted unity, talent development and community service.

The week-long celebration, held on the school’s campus in Kumasi, brought together students, teachers and invited guests in an atmosphere of excitement and solidarity. The event was supported by Washington View Hospital and Promasidor, whose sponsorship contributed significantly to the smooth organisation of the programme.

Addressing a durbar of students and staff prior to the commencement of activities on Wednesday, February 25, the Headmistress, Mrs. Mary-Juliet Antwi Kyeremeh, expressed gratitude to God for His guidance and protection over the school community. She commended the SRC for its initiative and urged students to actively participate while maintaining discipline and upholding the values of the institution.

Festum Pacis ’26 officially commenced with a colourful float through selected routes, followed by a solemn Candle Night and a lively bonfire session. The opening activities set the tone for a celebration characterised by reflection, entertainment and shared experiences.

One of the most engaging highlights of the week was a friendly “mothers-and-daughters” cooking competition, where female teachers and students displayed their culinary skills in a spirited yet cordial contest. The activity strengthened bonds between staff and students and fostered a sense of mutual appreciation. The day’s events concluded with a movie show in the evening.

In furtherance of the school’s commitment to social responsibility, authorities and students undertook a philanthropic outreach to an orphanage, where assorted items were donated to support the children. The outreach programme also featured recreational games, health screening and an educative health talk, reinforcing the importance of community engagement and wellness awareness.

On Friday night, students treated their teachers to an “Old School Night,” a nostalgic event that revisited past musical eras and fashion trends. The programme created moments of laughter and reflection, deepening intergenerational connections within the school community.

The celebration reached its climax on Saturday with a grand finale that featured drama performances, energetic dance displays and the presentation of meritorious awards to deserving students. The event was crowned with a beauty pageant, which was won by Fortune Anambanga, a Form Two General Arts 3 student, who distinguished herself through confidence, eloquence and poise.

Festum Pacis ’26 once again underscored the vibrancy, discipline and holistic development that define Prince of Peace Girls’ Senior High School, highlighting the SRC’s commitment to nurturing leadership, creativity and social responsibility among students.
