The Student Representative Council (SRC) of Prince of Peace Girls’ Senior High School has successfully organised its annual week celebration, Festum Pacis ’26, with a series of vibrant and impactful activities aimed at promoting unity, talent development and community service.

The much-anticipated celebration, held on the school’s campus in Kumasi, brought together students, teachers and invited guests in a spirited display of camaraderie and creativity. The event received sponsorship support from Washington View Hospital and Promasidor, whose contributions helped ensure a well-coordinated and memorable programme.

Addressing a durbar of students and staff ahead of the official commencement of activities on Wednesday, February 25, the Headmistress, Mrs. Mary-Juliet Antwi Kyeremeh, expressed gratitude to God for the protection and unity enjoyed by the school community. She commended the SRC for its initiative and urged students to participate responsibly while upholding the values and discipline of the institution.

Festum Pacis ’26 commenced with a colourful float through selected principal streets, followed by a solemn Candle Night and a lively bonfire session on Wednesday evening. The opening activities set the tone for a week characterised by enthusiasm, reflection and shared experiences.

One of the highlights of the celebration was a friendly “mothers-and-daughters” cooking competition, which saw female teachers and students engage in a spirited culinary contest. The event fostered bonding and mutual appreciation between staff and students before climaxing with a movie show later in the evening.

In line with the school’s commitment to social responsibility, authorities and students undertook a philanthropic outreach to a local orphanage. The visit, which featured the donation of assorted items, underscored the importance of compassion and service to society. The programme also incorporated recreational games, health screening and an educational health talk, providing both entertainment and valuable health awareness for participants.

Friday night was dedicated to an “Old School Night,” during which students treated their teachers to nostalgic music and fashion in a symbolic journey through past eras. The event strengthened intergenerational bonds and added a touch of cultural appreciation to the celebration.

The week-long festivities culminated on Saturday with a grand finale featuring drama performances, captivating dance displays and the presentation of meritorious awards to deserving students. The event was crowned with a beauty pageant, which was won by Fortune Anambanga, a Form Two General Arts 3 student, who impressed judges with her confidence, eloquence and poise.

Festum Pacis ’26 once again demonstrated the vibrancy, discipline and holistic development that define Prince of Peace Girls’ Senior High School, reinforcing the institution’s commitment to academic excellence, character formation and community engagement.
