Paapa Osei, Head of Legal and Reputation Management at MobileMoney LTD, has been named in the prestigious GC Powerlist: Ghana 2026 compiled by Legal 500, earning recognition among the nation’s most distinguished General Counsel and senior in-house legal leaders.

The Legal 500 GC Powerlist is produced following months of extensive research, peer review, and independent vetting. Inclusion on the list represents a significant professional milestone and acknowledges individuals who demonstrate exceptional legal expertise, strategic leadership, and measurable impact within their organisations.

Mr. Osei is widely credited with establishing and leading the Legal and Reputation Management function at MobileMoney LTD, Ghana’s largest fintech and Electronic Money Issuer, as well as a leading revenue contributor within the MTN Group. In his capacity, he provides strategic legal direction, oversees regulatory compliance and stakeholder engagement, and promotes strong corporate governance standards within Ghana’s rapidly evolving digital financial services sector.

He has also played a pivotal role in the localisation of MobileMoney LTD, guiding its transition from a subsidiary of Scancom PLC to a fully owned MTN Group entity. His leadership during this transformation strengthened governance structures, enhanced risk management frameworks, and ensured regulatory alignment in a dynamic and competitive fintech environment.

With over 20 years of professional experience spanning fintech, telecommunications, consultancy, beverage manufacturing, construction, and pharmaceuticals, Mr. Osei brings broad cross-sector expertise to his role. His contributions have reinforced internal controls, strengthened stakeholder confidence, and supported sustainable institutional growth.

Responding to the recognition, Mr. Osei described the honour as both humbling and motivating, noting that this marks the second time he has been featured on the GC Powerlist.

“This recognition reflects the collective dedication of the teams I have had the privilege to work with over the years. In a rapidly evolving fintech landscape, the role of in-house counsel extends beyond legal advisory — it involves enabling innovation responsibly, safeguarding customer trust, and contributing meaningfully to national development. I am honoured to be recognised among such accomplished professionals,” he stated.

Mr. Osei holds a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) degree in Economics and Law from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Birmingham. He obtained his legal qualifications from BPP University and the University of Law, where he completed the Legal Practice Course (LPC) MSc in Law and Business Management. He also holds a certificate in ESG Leadership from the University of Cambridge and completed his professional legal training at the Ghana School of Law, qualifying as both a solicitor and barrister.

Other MTN Ghana legal leaders recognised at the event include Pala Asiedu Ofori, Company Secretary of Scancom PLC; Nana Kofi Asare, General Manager for Legal and Regulatory Affairs; and Abena Fordjour Acquah of MTN Global Connect – Bayobab.

MobileMoney LTD has congratulated Mr. Osei on this distinguished achievement and commended his continued leadership in advancing legal excellence, strengthening ethical standards, and promoting responsible growth within Ghana’s fintech ecosystem.

End.
