The Ministry of Food and Agriculture, under the leadership of Hon. Eric Opoku, has officially launched a scholarship program in partnership with GIDA VE TARIM University in Turkey, aimed at enhancing the skills and knowledge of Ghanaian students in the field of agriculture. The initiative was formalized through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on behalf of His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, President of Ghana.

The scholarship program will offer Ghanaian students the opportunity to pursue academic and professional training in various agriculture-related disciplines. It is designed to equip participants with advanced practical skills and technical knowledge that will strengthen Ghana’s agro-industrial sector and contribute to national food security and economic growth.
GIDA VE TARIM University, a highly regarded institution in agricultural studies, will collaborate closely with the Ministry to ensure that the scholarship program meets international standards of agricultural education. The program will focus on building capacity, innovation, and expertise among Ghanaian students, preparing them to take on key roles in the modernization and development of the country’s agricultural sector.

Hon. Eric Opoku emphasized that the initiative reflects the government’s commitment to investing in human capital development. “This scholarship program is a strategic step towards empowering Ghanaian students with world-class agricultural education. It will provide them with the tools and knowledge necessary to contribute effectively to the growth and sustainability of our agro-industrial sector,” he stated.

The partnership between Ghana and Turkey through this program also seeks to promote knowledge exchange, research collaboration, and the adoption of modern agricultural practices, ensuring that the next generation of Ghanaian agriculturists is well-prepared to meet both national and global agricultural challenges.

Through this landmark initiative, the Ministry of Food and Agriculture is strengthening Ghana’s position as a country that prioritizes education, skills development, and innovation in agriculture, creating lasting benefits for the economy and the nation’s agro-industrial landscape.
