The Amansie South District has officially launched the National Apprenticeship Program (NAP) with the distribution of tools and equipment to the first batch of selected youth. The ceremony, held at the District Assembly Hall, was led by the District Chief Executive (DCE), Hon. Benjamin Marfo, alongside Regional Apprenticeship Executives and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Constituency Chairman, Mr. Frank Antwi Adjei.

The program, a key government initiative aimed at combating youth unemployment, equips young people with practical vocational skills, trade-specific tools, and financial support to foster self-reliance and sustainable livelihoods. Each beneficiary of the first batch received essential equipment for their chosen trade, coupled with a monthly allowance to support their apprenticeship period.

In his address, Hon. Benjamin Marfo urged the youth to take full advantage of the opportunity, warning against abandoning the program to engage in illegal mining activities, commonly referred to as “galamsey.” He emphasized that the tools provided are an investment in their future, and their proper use will ensure a sustainable and dignified source of income.
The DCE also called on master craftsmen and trainers to provide thorough mentorship and guidance, ensuring that the apprentices gain the skills necessary to excel in their trades. “The success of this program relies not only on your commitment but also on the dedication of those guiding you,” he stated.

Mr. Frank Antwi Adjei, NDC Constituency Chairman, commended the government and district authorities for prioritizing youth development, noting that such initiatives play a critical role in reducing unemployment and fostering economic growth in Amansie South.
Beneficiaries expressed heartfelt gratitude to President H.E. John Dramani Mahama and Hon. Benjamin Marfo for the support and opportunity. They pledged to fully utilize the tools and training provided to build successful careers and contribute positively to their communities.

The National Apprenticeship Program is expected to transform the lives of young people across Amansie South by providing practical skills, startup tools, and financial assistance. The successful rollout of the first batch reflects the Assembly’s commitment to youth empowerment and sustainable community development.
The event concluded with encouraging remarks from district authorities, who expressed optimism that the program will achieve its objective of creating skilled, self-reliant youth capable of contributing meaningfully to the district’s socio-economic growth.
