MTN Ghana has announced plans to invest more than $300 million in 2026 as part of a strategic drive to expand its network, enhance service quality, and accelerate digital innovation across the country. The announcement follows the company’s recognition as the overall winner of the MTN Group’s 2025 Million Dollar Challenge, an accolade that highlights exceptional performance across all areas of its operations.

Chief Executive Officer of MTN Ghana, Mr. Stephen Blewett, described the award as a significant endorsement of the company’s strong execution and customer-focused strategy. He made the remarks during the maiden edition of the MTN Bright Conversation, noting that the recognition, which was presented at the MTN Global Leadership Gathering 2026, reflects the consistent efforts of the company’s teams across all departments.
“It’s always rewarding to lead a successful organisation, but the real strength of MTN Ghana lies in the passionate and committed people behind the brand,” Mr. Blewett said. He added that the company’s recognition was driven by outstanding performance in key areas, including data innovation, network expansion, customer experience, and fintech services, particularly mobile money.
The CEO highlighted that achieving broad-based success across every business unit in the same year is rare, and that MTN Ghana’s performance demonstrates the company’s capability to deliver excellence consistently.
Looking ahead, MTN Ghana’s 2026 investment strategy is underpinned by improved macroeconomic stability in Ghana, which provides the confidence necessary for long-term capital projects. According to Mr. Blewett, stable economic conditions, including exchange rate stability and a stronger cedi, will allow the company to procure advanced equipment and further enhance network capacity nationwide.
The $300 million investment plan will focus on deepening network rollout in peri-urban and rural communities, expanding digital self-service options through the MyMTN platform, and strengthening support for small and medium-sized businesses operating in the digital economy.
“2026 will be a year centred on innovation and delivering technology-driven solutions that improve the customer experience while contributing to Ghana’s digital transformation,” Mr. Blewett stated. He expressed optimism about the year ahead, noting that MTN Ghana aims to continue leading the telecommunications sector in innovation and delivering meaningful benefits to customers across the nation.
The announcement underscores MTN Ghana’s commitment to supporting the country’s digital agenda and ensuring that high-quality telecommunications and fintech services are accessible to all Ghanaians.
