Asante Mampong, widely regarded as one of the strongest political strongholds of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), is set to hold an internal election to select a parliamentary candidate to represent the party in the next general elections.

With the contest drawing closer, several aspiring candidates have begun actively engaging party delegates in a bid to secure their endorsement.

Among them is Beatrice Owarewaa Siaw, an American-based native of Asante Mampong, who has officially declared her intention to contest and has commenced extensive consultations with delegates across the constituency.

Speaking during one of her engagements, Madam Siaw expressed her deep commitment to the development of Asante Mampong, stressing that her decision to contest stems from her desire to bring renewed transformation to the area as she has over the years, single-handedly financed a number of development projects in the area.

According to her, these include the clearing of a decades-old refuse dump at Mampong Apostolic, the construction of wards at the Mampong Government Hospital, and the financing of the Mampong Tadie AstroTurf, among other initiatives.

“I want to become a change for the people of Mampong,” she stated. “Even though I am not yet an MP, I have always seen myself as a servant of the people, and I have consistently contributed to the development of this constituency.”

Madam Siaw acknowledged the contributions of the current and former Members of Parliament but emphasised that more needs to be done.

“The current MP and the past MPs have done their part, but looking at the current state of Mampong, it is not enough. I believe we can do better, and I am ready to hop in and rewrite the history of Mampong,” she added.

She appealed to delegates to consider her track record and vision as they prepare to elect the party’s parliamentary candidate.
