Hon. Elvis Osei Mensah Dapaah, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Ahafo Ano South West Constituency in the Ashanti Region, has officially cut the sod to kick‑start the construction of a modern football field for the people of Kunsu, a project he is financing from his personal resources. This development marks a significant boost to grassroots sports infrastructure and youth empowerment in the area.
The groundbreaking ceremony, held amid enthusiastic attendance from community leaders, youth groups, and local football aficionados, signaled the beginning of a six‑month construction plan for a facility that promises to transform sporting activities in the community.

The scope of the project includes the greening of the playing field, installation of barbed wire fencing, construction of stores and tool rooms, provision of dedicated washroom facilities, and the drilling of a borehole to ensure reliable water supply. A reputable contractor, selected for this assignment, has been engaged to deliver these key infrastructural components.

In his address at the sod‑cutting event, Hon. Dapaah urged residents of the Kunsu community to provide practical support and cooperation to the contractor to enable timely completion of the facility. He emphasized the importance of local involvement to ensure efficiency and quality in the execution of the work.
Highlighting his commitment to youth development and employment, the MP disclosed that he has reached an agreement with the contractor to recruit labour from within the community. This initiative is aimed at reducing youth unemployment and ensuring that local residents benefit directly from the project’s implementation.

Hon. Dapaah further indicated that community members demonstrating seriousness and dedication in their roles during the construction phase would be considered for permanent employment to manage the facility upon its completion. This, he said, would help sustain the facility and encourage ongoing youth engagement in sporting activities.
The MP also reminded constituents of his broader development efforts, noting that he had previously cut sod for the construction of a two‑storey building for the Mpasaaso No. 2 Primary and Junior High School, reinforcing his commitment to enhancing educational infrastructure in the constituency.

Speaking on behalf of the youth of Kunsu, Kwaku Adu‑Sei, popularly known as “Sabato,” expressed profound appreciation to Hon. Dapaah for his continued dedication to community development. He stated that the project would not only provide a quality sporting facility but also inspire hope and pride among young people in the area.

The launch of this project underscores Hon. Dapaah’s resolve to invest in initiatives that promote sportsmanship, community participation, and economic opportunity, further enriching the socio‑economic landscape of Ahafo Ano South West.
