MTN Ghana Foundation, in partnership with Cal Bank, has officially launched the 2026 “Save A Life” Blood Donation Exercise, a nationwide initiative aimed at addressing the critical blood shortage in Ghana. The exercise targets the collection of 7,000 units of blood in a single day to support the National Blood Service and regional hospital blood banks across the country.
The one-day campaign is scheduled for Friday, 13th February 2026, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with donation centres activated in all 16 regions of Ghana. In Accra, key collection points include the MTN Ghana Head Office, the MobileMoney Ltd office at the Stanchart Building, and the Cal Bank Head Office at Ridge, complemented by 44 designated centres nationwide to ensure maximum participation from the public.

Speaking on behalf of the Acting Chief Corporate Services and Sustainability Officer at MTN Ghana, Samuel Bartels, Senior Manager for Regulatory and Government Affairs, stressed the importance of the initiative in saving lives and supporting national health services.
“Ghana continues to face a significant blood shortage, and every unit donated is a lifeline for someone’s parent, child, friend, or colleague. This campaign is not just an event—it is an act of love, a demonstration of leadership, and a reaffirmation of MTN’s commitment to lead with care,” Mr. Bartels said.
He urged eligible donors, corporate institutions, and members of the public to participate, emphasizing that the demand for blood is continuous.

“Blood is an essential resource, and its need never stops. We appeal to Ghanaians everywhere—if you are able, please join us at any of the designated centres. Your donation could save a mother, a child, or someone in emergency care. Together, we can make a real and lasting impact,” he added.
Members of the public can access the full list of donation centres on MTN Ghana’s website and official social media platforms.
Since its inception in 2011, the MTN “Save A Life” campaign has grown into one of Ghana’s most impactful voluntary blood donation programmes. Launched in response to repeated appeals from the National Blood Service, the initiative has mobilised more than 35,000 units of blood to date, helping save thousands of lives and supporting hospitals in both emergency and routine care.

The 2026 edition of the campaign continues this legacy, strengthening partnerships, expanding reach across the country, and reaffirming MTN Ghana Foundation’s commitment to community health, social responsibility, and national wellbeing.
