NPA CEO Edudzi Kudzo Tameklo Leads Management Team to Assess TOR’s Operational Revival

The Chief Executive Officer of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), Mr. Edudzi Kudzo Tameklo, has led a high-level management team on a working visit to Tema Oil Refinery Limited (TOR) to assess progress made toward the refinery’s resumption of operations.

The visit formed part of the Authority’s regulatory oversight and continuous engagement with key downstream petroleum institutions to ensure the successful and sustainable restoration of TOR as a critical national asset. It also underscored the strong collaboration between the NPA and TOR, driven by a shared commitment to safeguarding Ghana’s energy security and strengthening the downstream petroleum industry.

During the visit, management of TOR provided detailed briefings on the current state of the refinery, ongoing technical and operational works, and milestones achieved so far in the revival process. The NPA delegation inspected key facilities and engaged extensively with TOR’s leadership to gain first-hand insight into the progress and challenges associated with the refinery’s restart.

Mr. Edudzi Kudzo Tameklo commended the management and staff of TOR for the significant strides made in restoring the refinery’s operational capacity. He reaffirmed the NPA’s unwavering support and regulatory backing, stressing that the Authority remains committed to working closely with TOR to ensure compliance, efficiency, and long-term sustainability in the national interest.

Under Mr. Tameklo’s able leadership, the National Petroleum Authority has played a pivotal role in TOR’s revival journey, providing strategic regulatory guidance and fostering an enabling environment for the refinery’s recovery. Management of TOR expressed profound appreciation to the NPA for its continuous support, noting that the regulator’s cooperation has been instrumental in rebuilding confidence in the refinery’s operations.

TOR officials further indicated that the refinery has regained considerable operational strength, with steady progress recorded over recent months. They attributed this renewed momentum largely to the decisive leadership and strategic direction of TOR’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Edmond Kombat, whose stewardship has helped reposition the refinery on a path of recovery and sustainable growth.

The working visit reaffirmed the collective resolve of both the NPA and TOR to restore the refinery to full operations, ensuring it effectively contributes to national fuel security, industrial development, job creation, and economic growth.
