Otumfuo Brempon Katakyie, Opoku Oware Commends Government for Bringing Education to Pampatia Community

The Otumfuo Brempon Katakyie, Opoku Oware, has commended the Government of Ghana and the Afigya Kwabre North District Assembly for fulfilling a long-standing dream of the Pampatia community — the construction of its first-ever basic school. The revered traditional leader praised the District Chief Executive, Hon. Emmanuel Jackson Aguma, for his proactive leadership and dedication to improving education in rural communities, describing the initiative as a transformative project that will bring lasting benefits to the children and families of Pampatia.
Speaking at a colourful sod-cutting ceremony for the construction of a six-unit classroom block, Nana Opoku Oware emphasized that the project represents hope, progress, and inclusion for Pampatia, which has lived for decades without a single school. For years, parents in the community had to send their children to faraway towns such as Boamang and Aduman to access education, enduring long walks and unsafe conditions. Many children dropped out prematurely or were unable to begin formal schooling altogether.

“This project is not just about putting up classrooms; it represents a new dawn of opportunity for our children. Today, our calls have finally been answered, and we are deeply grateful to the government and our hardworking DCE for bringing education to our community,” Nana Opoku Oware said. He urged parents to enroll their wards as soon as the school is completed and called on the youth to take ownership of the project, guard it against vandalism, and view it as a shared community asset that must be preserved for generations.

The District Chief Executive, Hon. Emmanuel Jackson Aguma, reaffirmed government’s commitment to expanding access to quality education in rural areas. He stated that the Pampatia school project is part of a broader national initiative under President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s administration to ensure no child is deprived of learning due to lack of infrastructure. He assured the community that the six-unit classroom block, fully funded by the government, is expected to be completed within six months and pledged that construction would meet the highest standards. Hon. Aguma encouraged residents to support the contractor and to maintain the facility once completed, emphasizing that sustainable development requires collective responsibility.

The contractor, Mr. Elvis Nyantakyi, Chief Executive Officer of Jobess Excel Ventures, expressed gratitude to the District Assembly for the confidence reposed in his company and promised to deliver the project on schedule and with excellent workmanship. He revealed that materials and skilled labor had already been mobilized to begin construction immediately. “We are fully prepared to start work today. Pampatia deserves the best, and I promise that within six months, this school will stand as a symbol of progress, learning, and hope for the community,” Mr. Nyantakyi stated.

The Pampatia school will comprise six classrooms, a headteacher’s office, a staff common room, and modern sanitation facilities. It is expected to serve children from Pampatia and nearby settlements, easing the burden of long-distance travel for education, boosting enrollment, and improving literacy levels in the district. Residents, parents, and local leaders expressed immense gratitude during the ceremony, describing the project as a dream realized and a life-changing intervention that will impact generations.

The initiative aligns with the Afigya Kwabre North District Assembly’s mission to expand access to quality education and supports the government’s broader “Education for All” policy, which seeks to ensure that every Ghanaian child has access to learning in a safe and conducive environment. As Pampatia celebrates this historic milestone, the sod-cutting ceremony symbolizes more than the start of a construction project; it marks the beginning of a new era of hope, opportunity, and transformation for the children and families of the community.
