Afigya Kwabre North DCE Emmanuel Jackson Aguma joins Nananom to Cuts Sod for Construction of Pampatia’s First-Ever Basic School

A historic milestone has been achieved in the Afigya Kwabre North District as the District Chief Executive (DCE), Hon. Emmanuel Jackson Aguma, has officially cut the sod for the construction of Pampatia’s first-ever basic school. The ceremony, held amidst joy and applause from residents, marks the beginning of a long-awaited educational transformation in the rural community, which has struggled for decades without a single school.
For many years, the people of Pampatia have appealed to successive governments for a school to serve their children. The absence of a local educational facility forced school-aged children to walk several kilometers daily to attend schools in neighboring towns such as Boamang and Aduman. This situation not only placed a heavy burden on families but also led to high dropout rates, poor attendance, and fatigue among pupils.

An earlier effort by the community and the District Assembly to construct a four-unit classroom block was halted midway due to funding challenges, leaving the project abandoned and the hopes of residents dashed. However, a new dawn has broken for Pampatia as the government has now approved and released funds for the construction of a modern six-unit classroom block to serve the educational needs of the community and its adjoining settlements.

Speaking at the groundbreaking event, Hon. Emmanuel Jackson Aguma expressed deep satisfaction that the long-standing request of the Pampatia community was finally being addressed. He described education as the cornerstone of national development and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring that no child is deprived of access to learning due to a lack of infrastructure.

“The government of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo believes that education is the most powerful tool for transformation. Every child, regardless of where they live, deserves the opportunity to learn in a decent environment. Today, we are taking a bold step to end years of educational neglect in Pampatia,” Hon. Aguma declared.

He assured the people that the District Assembly would closely monitor progress to ensure that the project is completed within the stipulated six-month period and meets the highest construction standards. Hon. Aguma further encouraged the community to support the contractor, maintain unity, and protect the facility upon completion, emphasizing that sustainable development requires collective responsibility.

The contractor, Mr. Elvis Nyantakyi, Chief Executive Officer of Jobess Excel Ventures, expressed gratitude to the District Assembly for the opportunity and pledged to deliver quality work within the agreed timeframe. He stated that his company had already mobilized materials and skilled labor to begin immediate construction, assuring both the Assembly and the community of timely and excellent delivery.

“We are ready and fully prepared to deliver this project with excellence. Pampatia deserves nothing short of the best, and we will make sure this school stands as a symbol of quality and progress for generations to come,” Mr. Nyantakyi stated.

The traditional leadership of the area, led by the Otumfuo Brempon Nana Opoku Oware Katakyie, expressed heartfelt appreciation to the government and the DCE for making Pampatia’s dream a reality. He recounted the struggles parents faced in sending their children to distant schools and noted that this project would bring lasting relief and opportunity to families.

“This project is not just a building — it is the beginning of a brighter future for our children. We are grateful to the government and our hardworking DCE for responding to our cries after so many years. From today, Pampatia can look forward to producing educated young men and women who will contribute meaningfully to national development,” Nana Katakyie said.

He also urged parents to enroll their wards as soon as the school is completed and to support teachers in maintaining discipline and academic excellence. The chief called on the youth to protect the project from vandalism and to see it as a shared community asset that must be preserved for future generations.

The Pampatia school project forms part of the government’s broader agenda to improve educational infrastructure across rural communities and to promote equitable access to quality education under the “Education for All” policy. It also aligns with the Afigya Kwabre North District Assembly’s mission to expand access to learning facilities and reduce barriers to education in remote areas.

As Pampatia witnesses the start of its first-ever school project, excitement and renewed hope fill the community. Parents, teachers, and traditional leaders believe the six-unit classroom block will not only ease the daily struggle for education but also transform the social and economic prospects of the area.
The sod-cutting ceremony thus represents more than just the beginning of a construction project — it is a turning point in Pampatia’s history, symbolizing progress, opportunity, and the promise of a brighter future where every child can learn, grow, and dream within their own community.
