The Takoradi community has been thrown into shock following the sudden death of Rev. Michael Kofi Appiah, Head Pastor of Light of Faith Ministry, who was discovered lifeless in a guest room after spending the night out with a married female congregant.

According to reports published by Citi Newsroom, Rev. Appiah checked into a guest house in New Takoradi late Friday evening with a woman identified as Mrs. Linda Mensah, a known member of his church. Witnesses recalled seeing the two enter the facility around 10 p.m. and ordering food and drinks before retiring to their room.

Guest house staff told reporters that at first nothing seemed unusual. Some assumed the pastor might have been counseling the woman privately. However, their cheerful laughter and close interactions raised questions among onlookers.

The calm atmosphere of the night was broken in the early hours of Saturday when frantic cries for help were heard from their room. Mrs. Mensah was reportedly banging on the door and shouting that the pastor was not breathing. Staff rushed in to find Rev. Appiah lying motionless on the bed. Despite efforts to resuscitate him, it was clear he had already passed away.

Police officers from the New Takoradi District were quickly called to the scene. A preliminary examination found no immediate evidence of foul play, but the body was conveyed to the morgue for autopsy to determine the exact cause of death. Mrs. Mensah was questioned and later released after giving her statement to investigators.

The news has left the Light of Faith Ministry and the wider New Takoradi community in shock. Church members described Rev. Appiah as a man who had guided them spiritually for years, making the circumstances of his passing deeply unsettling. One church elder, who preferred not to be named, expressed sadness, saying the congregation must remain calm and wait for official findings rather than rushing to judgment.

Nevertheless, speculation has already begun circulating regarding the nature of the late pastor’s relationship with Mrs. Mensah. Some residents expressed disappointment, pointing out that Rev. Appiah frequently preached about moral uprightness and faithfulness, which makes his death in such a setting particularly troubling.

As investigations continue, the police have urged restraint, promising to make details of the autopsy public once completed. For now, the church and the pastor’s family are left grappling with grief, unanswered questions, and the task of coming to terms with a loss that has cast a shadow over the entire community.
