MTN Ghana has officially rolled out DigiFest 2025, a month-long digital festival that highlights the company’s leadership in innovation and its commitment to creating a bold, inclusive, and connected future. The festival places the spotlight on the transformative role of artificial intelligence (AI), mobile gaming, and other digital technologies in reshaping the way Ghanaians live, work, and learn.The launch event in Accra brought together innovators, partners, policymakers, and young technology enthusiasts to experience the possibilities of a fully digital future. It also provided a platform for showcasing MTN’s latest digital products, services, and initiatives aimed at driving inclusion and opportunity.

In his keynote address, Stephen Blewett, Chief Executive Officer of MTN Ghana, said DigiFest 2025 is not only a celebration of digital achievements but also a bold declaration of MTN’s vision. He explained that MTN is no longer defined by its role as a telecommunications provider but is now a digital company enabling customers to live and work seamlessly in a connected world. Blewett disclosed that MTN has invested more than one billion dollars in Ghana’s digital infrastructure over the past five years, with a further two hundred and forty million dollars earmarked for 2025. He also pointed to ongoing projects such as the twenty-five million-dollar ICT Hub and the MTN Digital Skills Academy, which are designed to prepare Ghana’s youth for the digital economy.

Ibrahim Misto, Chief Digital Officer of MTN Ghana, emphasized the transformational power of technology, particularly AI, in shaping the future of industries and everyday life. He explained that AI is redefining skills, markets, and opportunities, and Ghana cannot afford to be left behind. He also highlighted the fast-growing mobile gaming industry, describing it as more than just entertainment. According to him, gaming has evolved into a global platform for creativity, entrepreneurship, and competition, giving Ghanaian youth the opportunity to innovate and compete internationally.

 

Throughout the festival, participants will experience a blend of learning, innovation, and entertainment. Activities include hackathons focused on user experience and design, AI community sessions hosted in universities, and interactive exhibitions featuring gaming stations, app demonstrations, and digital engagement activities such as Spin the Wheel. Weekly tech quizzes will add a fun dimension to learning, while key technology partners including Samsung, Huawei, Unotelos, Abena AI, and Smart Home solutions will showcase cutting-edge products and concepts.

DigiFest 2025 is closely aligned with MTN’s Ambition 2025 strategy, which positions the company as a leader in digital solutions for Africa’s progress. By creating platforms that highlight the potential of AI, gaming, and other digital innovations, MTN Ghana is not only expanding its service offerings but also empowering young people and entrepreneurs to shape the nation’s digital future.
