Donkorkrom Chiefs, DCE Praise MTN Ghana’s Commitment to Rural Service Delivery

The chiefs and people of Donkorkrom in the Kwahu Afram Plains North District of the Eastern Region have expressed profound appreciation to MTN Ghana for its commitment to enhancing digital access and improving customer service delivery in rural and underserved communities.

This follows a successful community engagement forum organized by MTN Ghana in Donkorkrom, aimed at empowering residents with knowledge on mobile money (MoMo) safety, digital tools, and the company’s ongoing investments in network infrastructure. The initiative forms part of MTN’s broader commitment to bridging the digital divide and promoting inclusive growth across Ghana.

The forum brought together traditional leaders, the District Assembly, local opinion leaders, and hundreds of residents, creating a platform for open dialogue between the telecom operator and the community. The residents were educated on how to protect themselves from MoMo fraud and were introduced to various digital solutions designed to support small businesses and improve day-to-day communication.

Speaking at the event, the Chief of Donkorkrom, Nana Akuamoah Boateng, commended MTN Ghana for recognizing and engaging directly with the community. He said, “This is the first time a major corporate organisation like MTN Ghana has come to our town to hold such an important forum. It shows that they respect and value us. We are very grateful and hope this is the beginning of a long-term relationship.”

He further noted that the forum had given the residents an opportunity to voice their concerns and share their needs, which will go a long way to improve service delivery and foster trust between MTN and its rural customers.

Echoing similar sentiments, the District Chief Executive for Kwahu Afram Plains North, Hon. Kate Mawusi, thanked MTN Ghana for choosing Donkorkrom as the venue for the engagement. “This visit demonstrates MTN’s commitment to inclusive service delivery. You have shown that you are not only interested in the cities but also care about the needs of people in the rural and hard-to-reach areas. We are happy to partner with you,” she stated.

Mrs. Georgina Fiagbenu, Senior Manager for Corporate Communications at MTN Ghana, who led the delegation, reiterated the company’s dedication to serving all customers, regardless of their location. “Our visit to Donkorkrom reflects our continuous efforts to listen to our customers, educate them, and invest in improving their experience with our network and services. We are working with urgency to close the digital gap and ensure that no Ghanaian is left behind,” she emphasized.

She added that MTN Ghana was undertaking infrastructure upgrades in Donkorkrom and surrounding areas to improve network quality and reliability, and encouraged the residents to take full advantage of the digital tools and safety tips shared during the forum.

Participants actively engaged with MTN officials, asking questions about network coverage, MoMo services, and digital tools. The MTN team used the opportunity to demonstrate how residents could identify and report MoMo fraud and also introduced them to digital products that could help support their businesses and improve livelihoods.

Donkorkrom, with its growing population and increasing demand for digital access, was strategically chosen for the engagement to reflect MTN’s mission of expanding its services to all parts of the country, especially those historically underserved.

The event marks yet another milestone in MTN Ghana’s long-running series of community fora across the country. These forums are central to the company’s corporate social investment strategy, aimed at deepening customer education, enhancing transparency, and building strong community relations.

As MTN Ghana continues to expand its network and reach, its presence in Donkorkrom has not only strengthened customer trust but also renewed hope for better connectivity and a digitally inclusive future for all.
