Amansie South District Holds First Ordinary Meeting of the Second Session of the Third Assembly

The Amansie South District Assembly has successfully held its First Ordinary Meeting of the Second Session of the Third Assembly, with a strong focus on youth empowerment, development planning, and key government interventions to accelerate growth across the district.
The meeting, which took place at the District Assembly Hall in Manso Adubia, brought together Assembly Members, Heads of Department, traditional authorities, and other key stakeholders to review progress made in the district and discuss the way forward for development.
Addressing the Assembly, the District Chief Executive (DCE), Hon. Benjamin Marfo, highlighted the critical role local governance plays in national development and reiterated his administration’s commitment to implementing government policies aimed at improving the lives of constituents.
A key highlight of his address was a passionate appeal to the youth of Amansie South to embrace various government flagship programs such as Feed Ghana, Nkɔkɔ Nketenkete, and Adwumawura, which he described as life-changing opportunities. According to Hon. Marfo, these initiatives were designed to create sustainable jobs, promote agricultural productivity, and empower young people to become economically independent.
“These are not mere policies on paper,” the DCE emphasized. “They are real opportunities. I urge all Assembly Members to go back to their communities and sensitize the youth to participate actively in these programs. The future of Amansie South depends on our ability to get the youth engaged in productive ventures.”
He added that under the Reset Ghana Agenda, the government remains focused on deepening economic inclusion and tackling youth unemployment through practical and accessible programs.
Hon. Marfo also used the platform to outline ongoing and upcoming development projects in the district. He noted that the Assembly, in collaboration with sector agencies, is working to improve infrastructure in education, healthcare, sanitation, and access to potable water. He specifically mentioned plans to upgrade facilities at Manso Adubia Senior High School and expand borehole projects to underserved communities.
However, the DCE acknowledged several pressing challenges confronting the district, including inadequate teaching and health personnel, a lack of staff accommodation, and growing concerns over youth unemployment. He assured stakeholders that measures are being put in place to engage with the appropriate ministries and agencies to address these concerns.
The DCE also made a strong appeal to the Lands Commission to expedite processes for completing the new Fire Service Station project in the district, citing its importance to safety, emergency response, and disaster prevention.
He concluded his address by calling for unity, collaboration, and commitment among all stakeholders. “We must all play our part—traditional leaders, Assembly Members, and citizens alike—to ensure the development of Amansie South. Let us work hand-in-hand to make this district a beacon of growth in the Ashanti Region,” he stated.
The Presiding Member, in his remarks, encouraged all members to take the deliberations seriously and contribute meaningfully to discussions. He stressed that the Assembly must continue to be a voice for the people and a channel for development.
Several departmental heads also presented reports on activities undertaken within the past quarter, ranging from health campaigns to school monitoring, sanitation enforcement, and revenue mobilization.
The meeting served as a crucial platform for reviewing the district’s performance, identifying gaps, and aligning development strategies with government priorities. It reaffirmed the Assembly’s resolve to ensure inclusive, accountable, and effective local governance for the benefit of all residents of Amansie South.
