KMA Sets July Ending to Clear All Structures at Adum Blue Light – Mayor Warns Traders Against Unauthorized Rebuilding

The Mayor of Kumasi, Hon Richard ofori Agyemang Boadi (king Zuba)has issued a firm ultimatum to traders affected by the recent fire outbreak at the Adum Blue Light market, warning that all structures—both damaged and newly constructed—will be demolished by the end of July 2025 if erected without the approval of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA).

Speaking to Media in an interview today Mayor expressed serious concern about the unauthorized rebuilding efforts by some affected traders. He made it clear that any reconstruction not sanctioned by the Assembly would not be tolerated.

“No one has been given the green light to build,” the Mayor stated. “If you’re spending money to put up a store now, you’re doing so at your own risk. By the end of July, we will move in with bulldozers to clear all illegal structures—without compensation.”
