Finance Minister Tipped as Best Performing Minister for First Quarter – Coalition of Concerned Youth

The Coalition of Concerned Youth has showered praise on the Finance Minister, Hon. Cassiel Ato Forson, describing him as the most outstanding minister in the first quarter of the administration of President John Dramani Mahama.
At a press briefing in Kumasi, the Executive Director of the Coalition, Mr. Richard Boakye Mensah, commended the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government for its efforts in stabilizing the economy, highlighting the performance of the finance minister as particularly commendable.
According to Mr. Boakye Mensah, the recent appreciation of the Ghanaian cedi against the U.S. dollar is a clear indication of Hon. Ato Forson’s hard work and commitment to reviving the nation’s economy. He noted that the minister’s prudent economic strategies and firm leadership at the Finance Ministry have begun yielding positive results, offering hope to the Ghanaian populace.
“The dollar depreciation alone is enough evidence of the finance minister’s dedication to duty. He has demonstrated competence and deserves to be recognized as the best performing minister in the first quarter,” he stated.
While praising the finance minister, Mr. Boakye Mensah also called on President Mahama to take urgent steps to address concerns in other sectors. He specifically mentioned the Energy Minister, Hon. John Jinapor, and the Minister for Communications and Digitalisation, Hon. Sam George, urging the president to hold them accountable.
He said both ministers are underperforming and must rise to the occasion to meet the expectations of Ghanaians.
“The Energy Minister and the Communications Minister need to be called to order. The ordinary Ghanaian is feeling the pinch. The high cost of telecom charges and unreliable energy services are affecting livelihoods. The time for talking is over; the results must show,” he said.
On a different note, Mr. Boakye Mensah also touched on the recent arrest of the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi. He urged the government not to treat the matter as a passing episode.
“We demand that the legal processes be followed and if it is proven that public funds were misappropriated, those responsible must be prosecuted. This should serve as a deterrent to others who think they can abuse public trust with impunity,” he stressed.
The Coalition of Concerned Youth, according to Mr. Boakye Mensah, remains committed to advocating for transparency, accountability, and good governance in all sectors of national development.
