Kumasi Mayor Joins Nhyiaeso MP to Commission Ultra-Modern 33-Classroom Block at State Experimental M/A Basic Schoo

The Mayor of Kumasi, Hon. Richard Ofori Agyemang Boadi, popularly known as King Zuba, joined the Member of Parliament for the Nhyiaeso Constituency, Hon. Dr. Stephen Amoah (Sticka), to commission a state-of-the-art 33-classroom, three-storey building at the State Experimental M/A Basic School in Kumasi.
The commissioning ceremony, held in collaboration with the Kumasi Metro Education Directorate and the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly, marks a major milestone in the MP’s efforts to improve educational infrastructure within the constituency.
In a media interaction, Hon. Dr. Amoah revealed that the project was funded through his MP’s Common Fund with support from the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund). He reiterated his strong commitment to education, describing it as a key pillar of development. He pledged to renovate all government schools in the Nhyiaeso Constituency to match the standards of private institutions and promote academic excellence. “The newly constructed facility will serve over 1,500 pupils and help reduce overcrowding in classrooms,” he said. “I urge school authorities to cultivate a strong maintenance culture to ensure this facility benefits future generations.”
Dr. Amoah further disclosed that throughout his four-year tenure, he has allocated his entire Common Fund to education-focused initiatives. These include the provision of over 2,400 tables and chairs to basic and second-cycle schools, the donation of computers to all senior high schools in the constituency—namely Opoku Ware SHS, St. Hubert SHS, J.A. Kufuor SHS, KSTS, and Prince of Peace SHS—and the awarding of 715 scholarships to students, both locally and internationally.
On broader social issues, the MP expressed concern over increasing cases of robbery and drug abuse among the youth. He called for collective parental and community support to address these challenges. He also warned that those found riding unregistered motorbikes or sending minors to purchase alcohol or tobacco would be dealt with according to the law.
Kumasi Mayor Hon. Richard Ofori Agyemang Boadi praised the management and staff of State Experimental M/A Basic School for their long-standing contribution to education and human resource development in Ghana. He assured them of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly’s continued support and lauded Hon. Dr. Amoah’s exceptional dedication to the educational advancement of the constituency.
The Headmistress of State Experimental M/A Basic School (One), Mrs. Joana Anokyewaa, expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the MP for the new classroom block. She, however, appealed for further assistance to address the school’s pressing needs. These include proper landscaping, improved security through the completion of a perimeter wall, measures to stop encroachment, and the construction of a science lab, ICT lab, and a modern library.
She called on government agencies, corporate entities, NGOs, and philanthropists to come to the school’s aid.
The commissioning event was marked by joy and appreciation from students, teachers, and community members, as the new facility is expected to significantly enhance the teaching and learning environment at the school.
