Amansie South NDC Chairman Withdraws DCE Candidacy, Endorses Hon. Benjamin Marfo

In a significant development within the Amansie South District, the Constituency Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Frank Antwi Agyei, has officially withdrawn his candidacy for the position of District Chief Executive (DCE) and has thrown his support behind Hon. Benjamin Marfo, the immediate past parliamentary candidate of the party.

In a statement announcing his withdrawal, Mr. Antwi Agyei indicated that his decision was reached after extensive consultations with traditional authorities, grassroots party members, branch executives, and a majority of Assembly members within the district. He emphasized that the consensus among stakeholders strongly favored Hon. Benjamin Marfo, who has contested as a parliamentary candidate on three occasions, making him a widely recognized and admired figure within the party and the district at large.

“After my extensive consultations with chiefs, grassroots party members, branch executives, and above all, the majority of Assembly members within the district, I came to the realization that Hon. Benjamin Marfo, our three-time parliamentary aspirant, is the much-preferred candidate for the position of the DCE,” Mr. Antwi Agyei stated.

He further explained that while he was honored to have been shortlisted following the regional vetting process, he believes that stepping aside at this stage would foster unity, cohesion, and development within the party and the district.

“I am much grateful to the party for shortlisting me to this stage after the regional vetting. However, for party cohesion, unity, and development, I sense that withdrawing at this point of the process will inure to the benefit of all stakeholders,” he added.

His endorsement of Hon. Benjamin Marfo is expected to strengthen the latter’s bid for the DCE position, given Mr. Antwi Agyei’s influential role within the party and his extensive grassroots support. The move is also seen as a demonstration of unity within the party as it seeks to consolidate its influence in the district ahead of future political engagements.

The appointment of a new DCE for the Amansie South District remains a key decision, with many stakeholders keenly watching how the process unfolds.
