Asokore Mampong Chief, Nana Boakye Ansah Debrah, Dies in South Africa – One-Week Rites Set for April 10

The Asokore Mampong Traditional Council has officially confirmed the passing of Nana Boakye Ansah Debrah, Chief of Asokore Mampong. He died in South Africa on February 20, 2025, just days after the passing of his mother, the Queen Mother of the traditional area.

To honor their memory, the Traditional Council has set Thursday, April 10, 2025, as the date for a joint one-week funeral observation at the Asokore Mampong Traditional Palace. The event is expected to bring together traditional rulers, government officials, and members of the Asante Kingdom.

A Leader Who Transformed Asokore Mampong

Nana Boakye Ansah Debrah, who reigned for 38 years, is credited with transforming Asokore Mampong into a modern and well-developed residential area in the Ashanti Region. Under his leadership, the town witnessed significant growth in infrastructure, education, and local governance, making it a key part of the Asante Kingdom.

A Pillar of Asanteman

Having sworn allegiance to Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Nana Boakye Ansah Debrah was a dedicated custodian of Asante culture and traditions. His leadership ensured peace and unity among his people while fostering rapid development in the traditional area.

His passing marks a great loss to Asokore Mampong and Asanteman, as preparations begin to celebrate the life and legacy of a distinguished traditional leader.
