“Am not the ONLY Custodian of Offin River”- Dunkwahene to Critics

Okoforubour Obeng Nuako III, Dunkwahene has disclosed that though his town bears the name “Dunkwa-On-Offin”, does not necessarily implies he is the “sole custodian” of the river “Offin”, noting that the river has several demarcation, with each having the Chief of the town it borders with as its “custodian”.

Dunkwahene made this disclosure at the observation of “Akwasidae” last Sunday.

The Offin river, with the length of 6.2 miles, along with the Pra rivers form the boundary between Ghana’s Ashanti region and Central region. Dunkwa-on-Offin is a major town on the river.
Nana Nuako disclosed that only 3.73 miles of the river falls with his jurisdiction, thus from “Forumado” to “Frimpomaa”, which are suburbs of Dunkwa, noting that the river also border towns like Adansi, among others.

Dunkwahene urged the media to desist from associating his name as the chief of Dunkwa enclave as well as it’s stool from anything “bad” that transpires along and on river Offin, adding that Chiefs have no “legal authority” to fight whatever that transpires along and on the river.

Further disclosing that “never” has the Offin river dried-up, but it’s being witnessed currently due to the activities on it, for which Dunkwahene described as “worrying and appalling”.

Okoforubour Obeng Nuako III appealed to H.E John Dramani Mahama restore the “authority”, Nananom “once had” to fight these menace in our society, urging owners of the concessions along and on the Offin river to halt, to avoid “total destruction” of our water bodies. END.
