Ladies and gentlemen of the press,
We are gathered here today as concerned citizens and stakeholders of the Ayawaso East Municipality, compelled to express our profound disappointment and disillusionment with the decision of the Regional Vetting Committee to exclude Mr. Ahmed Mohammed Gedel from the final list of candidates for the position of Municipal Chief Executive.
This outrageous error is a stark reminder of the entrenched systemic failures that have plagued our municipality for far too long. For years, Nima has lacked competent leadership in many political positions, leaving our community neglected and devoid of basic amenities.
We are compelled to demand explanations from the Regional Vetting Committee regarding the omission of Mr. Ahmed Mohammed Gedel’s name from the final list, despite being shortlisted in the previous vetting process by almost the same committee. This inconsistency raises serious concerns about accountability, credibility, and transparency in the vetting process.
The people of Ayawaso East deserve better. We demand visionary leadership, effective governance, and tangible development outcomes. With his distinguished academic background as a university lecturer, Mr. Ahmed Mohammed Gedel boasts an impressive record of exemplary leadership, innovation, and achievement. As the former Secretary of Ayawaso East Constituency, Constituency Election Director, and Greater Accra Regional member of the Elections Directorate, makes him the standout candidate for the position, uniquely equipped to bring transformative leadership to our community.
In stark contrast, the candidates selected by the Regional Vetting Committee lack the requisite qualifications and experience for the position. We are disgusted by the fact that none of the selected candidates possess the minimum academic qualifications required for the position. Furthermore, we are shocked to discover that none of the selected candidates possesses SSCE certificate.
As members of the Nima community, we know each other very well, and we are confident that Gedel is the most qualified and competent candidate for the position. We urge the BNI and the security checks committee to investigate and scrutinize thoroughly all the Ayawaso East candidates’ credentials, including their academic records presented to the vetting committee.
The government special initiatives as proposed in the manifesto and national policies, such as the 24-hour economy policy, can only be achieved through effective local government leadership. We need a Municipal Chief Executive who can stimulate economic growth and create jobs for the high number of unemployed youth in Nima.
Nima is eager to bridge the development gap with other thriving communities in Ghana. To achieve this, we require a robust representation at the municipality level – a leader who can passionately advocate for our interests and spearhead development initiatives. In our opinion, Mr, Ahmed Mohammed Gedel embodies the leadership quality we need to drive progress in our community.
The people of Nima are urging the president to take immediate action to address the critical need for a credible and trustworthy Municipal Chief Executive. As a strong hold of the National Democratic Congress, the community expects to see the party’s values of social justice, equality and development reflected in their leadership.
Unfortunately, the current state of the community falls short of these expectations, and the people of Nima are calling on the President to intervene and ensure that justice is served. We demand a genuine, transparent, fair, and credible personality to occupy the position of Municipal Chief Executive.
The president’s prompt attention to this matter is crucial, as the community’s development and well-being hang in the balance. We the people of Nima are counting on the president to take decisive action and appoint a leader who embodies the values of National democratic congress and can effectively address the community’s pressing needs.
As a community, we believe that Gedel’s impressive qualifications and experience make him the most suitable and qualified personality to lead the Ayawaso East Municipality. We will not rest until justice is served, and the rightful candidate is given the opportunity to serve our beloved municipality.
