All Set for Ashanti Region’s Council of State Election on February 11, 2025

Preparations are complete for the Council of State election in the Ashanti Region, set to take place on Tuesday, February 11, 2025. The election will determine the region’s representative on the Council of State, the constitutional advisory body to the President.

The Electoral Commission (EC) has finalized all arrangements, including candidate nominations, verification of delegates, and logistical preparations to ensure a smooth and transparent voting process. Delegates, primarily made up of representatives from the various assemblies in the Ashanti Region, will cast their votes to elect the next regional representative.

Significance of the Council of State

The Council of State plays a crucial role in advising the President on key national decisions. Members provide expert guidance on governance, policy-making, and national development, ensuring that government decisions align with the country’s best interests. The elected representative from the Ashanti Region will join other regional representatives, presidential appointees, and ex-officio members on the Council.

A Keenly Contested Election Expected

With the Ashanti Region being a key political and economic hub in Ghana, the election is expected to be highly competitive, attracting candidates from diverse backgrounds, including traditional leaders, seasoned politicians, and professionals. The EC has assured the public of a free, fair, and credible electoral process, urging delegates to exercise their voting rights responsibly.

The winner of the election will serve a four-year term and play a crucial role in shaping policies that affect not only the region but the entire nation.

Ghanaians, particularly in the Ashanti Region, are keenly awaiting the outcome, as the elected representative is expected to champion the region’s interests at the national level.

End.
