Nana Yaw Akuoko, the Otumfuo Assinhene, has formally submitted his nomination to contest the forthcoming Council of State elections on February 11, 2025, as Ashanti Region’s representative. In his statement following the submission, Nana Akuoko reiterated his dedication to advocating for the growth and development of the region, emphasizing key areas such as healthcare, infrastructure, and economic empowerment for the youth.
Nana Akuoko stressed that the Ashanti Region faces numerous challenges in terms of infrastructural development, particularly in healthcare facilities, road networks, and modern markets. He pledged to ensure these pressing concerns are prioritized by the government if he is elected to represent the region in the Council of State.
“The Ashanti Region has immense potential, but it requires focused attention and development. My mission is to make sure our region gets the resources it deserves to tackle issues such as inadequate health centers, poor road conditions, and outdated market facilities,” he stated. “As a Council of State representative, I will be the voice that communicates these needs to the government.”
In addition to infrastructure development, Nana Akuoko also spoke on his commitment to advocating for economic empowerment programs for the youth. He noted that the region’s young population has vast potential but is often held back due to a lack of resources and opportunities. He promised to push for initiatives aimed at providing young people with the skills and opportunities to succeed.
“I am a strong believer in the power of the youth. The future of Ashanti lies in empowering our young people and giving them the tools to succeed. I will lobby for more initiatives to support the youth and ensure they have access to the necessary resources for their growth,” Nana Akuoko emphasized.
The Otumfuo Assinhene also made an appeal to the assembly members who will be voting in the elections. He urged them to consider not only his qualifications but also his approachability and dedication to serving the people of Ashanti.
“I want to be a representative who is accessible to the people. My door will always be open for assembly members to voice their concerns and share their ideas. I will be a dedicated advocate for the progress of Ashanti,” Nana Akuoko assured.
The nomination has received significant backing from influential leaders such as Obofuo Atwima Kwaah Boakye Darkwah II, the Chief of Atwima Gyakobaa in the Atwima Nwabiagya Municipal District. He endorsed Nana Akuoko’s candidacy, highlighting his long-standing commitment to the region’s growth.
“Nana Akuoko has shown consistent dedication to the development of Ashanti. He is the leader we need to represent us in the Council of State,” Obofuo Boakye Darkwah said.
With the election day fast approaching, Nana Akuoko’s campaign is gaining significant momentum, as he continues to rally support for his vision of a more prosperous and well-developed Ashanti Region.
