Nana Kumanini, who has expressed his deep concern about the challenges faced by young people in the region, aims to advocate for policies that will promote economic opportunities and create pathways for youth empowerment. His candidacy is inspired by the vision of the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, whose blueprint for the development of Ashanti is a key driving force behind his decision to run.
Speaking to media today, Nana Gyedu Kumanini IV made it clear that his focus would not only be on advising the President but also on ensuring that the Ashanti region’s development goals are at the forefront of national policies. He intends to play an active role in helping shape the country’s future while remaining committed to the vision of the Asantehene.
“I will not just be a figurehead in the Council; my objective is to actively engage in the development of Ashanti and contribute to the national growth of Ghana,” he said. “The youth of Asanteman are the future, and my goal is to ensure they have the tools, skills, and opportunities they need to succeed.”
With a strong emphasis on the need to create more economic opportunities for the youth, Nana Kumanini stressed the importance of providing young people with the skills and employment opportunities that can drive sustainable development. He expressed particular concern over the number of youth in the region who remain unemployed or underemployed, hindering their potential.
“If I am elected, I will champion the creation of more youth economic empowerment projects in Ashanti, ensuring that young people have access to decent jobs and the ability to build fulfilling careers,” he vowed.
Nana Gyedu Kumanini IV’s nomination was officially filed at the Ashanti Regional Office of the Electoral Commission, placing him 6th on the ballot. As the Council of State elections approach on February 11, 2024, Nana Kumanini is hopeful that his platform will resonate with voters in the Ashanti region, giving him the opportunity to represent the interests of the youth and contribute to the region’s growth.
His candidacy is seen as an important step in ensuring that the voices of young people in Ashanti are heard in the decision-making processes that shape the future of the region and the nation.
