Nana Kwanin Kwanfo II, the Appianyinasehene of Juaben in the Ashanti Region, has honored eight remarkable students for their outstanding performance in the 2024 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE). The ceremony, held to recognize the students’ achievements, also highlighted the chief’s continued efforts to promote quality education within the community.
The awardees, who are now enrolled in senior high schools, earned remarkable single-digit aggregates, showcasing their academic excellence. The students recognized included Acquah Helina Asiedu (aggregate 6), Dora Boateng (aggregate 8), Felix Manu (aggregate 8), Ernestina Gyebi (aggregate 9), Victoria Agyapong (aggregate 8), Charles Boateng (aggregate 9), Micheal Boadi Dapaah (aggregate 9), and Gloria Ama Akakpovi (aggregate 9).
As part of the recognition, Nana Kwanfo presented various rewards, including monetary incentives, books, and citations to the students. Those who achieved an aggregate of 9 received GHC 1,500 each, while those with aggregate 8 received GHC 2,000. Acquah Helina Asiedu, the top student with an aggregate of 6, was awarded GHC 3,000 for her exceptional performance.
In an interview with Hello FM News, Nana Kwanin Kwanfo stressed the importance of education in the development of Juaben and Ghana as a whole. He reiterated his commitment to recognizing and encouraging academic excellence to motivate other students in the municipality.
The Juaben Appianyinasehene also made an appeal to the Ghana Education Service (GES) to consider the reintroduction of caning in schools as a means of fostering discipline and responsibility among students.
Both Acquah Helina Asiedu and Dora Owusua Boateng expressed deep gratitude to Nana Kwanin Kwanfo II for the recognition and support.
