The office of Alan Kyerematen, leader of the Movement for Change, has dismissed a circulating letter on social media that falsely claims he has been appointed as the Acting Director for the establishment of the 24-Hour Economy initiative under President John Mahama’s government.
In a statement issued on Friday, January 17, signed by Kwame Owusu Danso, Esq., Special Advisor on Communications to Mr. Kyerematen, the office described the letter as a “malicious fabrication” intended to deceive the public. The fake letter, which purportedly came from the Office of President Mahama, claimed that Mr. Kyerematen would be responsible for overseeing the creation of the 24-Hour Economy board and secretariat, a major proposal in the NDC’s 2024 electoral manifesto.
The statement made it clear that no such appointment had been made, and that the letter was entirely false. The office strongly condemned the circulation of the document, emphasizing that such actions are intended to sow confusion and misinformation. It called on the public to disregard the claims and remain informed.
“This is a deliberate attempt to mislead the public, and we will not tolerate these kinds of actions,” the statement said.
While Mr. Kyerematen has met with President Mahama following his re-election and shared his Great Transformational Agenda with him, there has been no official appointment related to the 24-Hour Economy initiative as suggested in the fake letter.
The office of Mr. Kyerematen continues to focus on promoting economic transformation and addressing the nation’s challenges, distancing itself from the fabricated claims circulating online.
