Eleven Candidates File Nominations to Contest for Ejisu Municipal Chief Executive Position

A total of 11 individuals have officially filed nominations to contest for the position of Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Ejisu, following the opening of nomination forms from January 10th to 13th, 2025.

In an interview with the media today, Mr. Zinzim Salisu, the Deputy Secretary of the Ejisu Constituency of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), confirmed that 11 individuals have now filed their nominations to contest for the MCE position. He noted that the next stage in the process will be the vetting procedure, which will be held at the regional level. The specific date for the vetting will be communicated to the applicants soon.

Mr. Salisu expressed confidence in the democratic process, assuring the public that the NDC is committed to ensuring a fair, transparent, and thorough selection procedure. “This is a crucial position for the development of the Ejisu Municipality, and the NDC is dedicated to choosing the right candidate who can effectively lead and foster progress,” Mr. Salisu stated.

Additionally, Mr. Salisu took the opportunity to commend both the regional and national executives of the NDC for making the nomination process easily accessible to all potential candidates. He described the initiative as “superb” for promoting transparency within the party by ensuring that nomination forms were readily available.

In his remarks, Mr. Salisu stressed that the NDC will not tolerate any efforts to bypass the democratic selection process. “We will not allow anyone to emerge as MCE or DCE through the backdoor in any of our municipalities or district assemblies,” he affirmed. He highlighted that this policy ensures that party members can directly engage with their elected leaders, allowing them to voice concerns and grievances. “It is important that the people have the ability to approach their MCE or DCE for resolutions and feel connected to the leadership,” he added.

With the nomination period now closed, all eyes are on the NDC as the vetting and selection process moves forward. The outcome will be pivotal, not only for the NDC’s internal structure but also for the political direction and future development of the Ejisu Municipality.
