Bishop Dr. J.Y. Adu Urges President Mahama to Focus on National Development, Not Political Witch-Hunting

Founder and Leader of New Jerusalem Chapel at Sokoban Ampayoo, Bishop Dr. J.Y. Adu, has called on President-elect John Dramani Mahama to focus on addressing the pressing issues facing Ghanaians rather than engaging in political witch-hunting against outgoing New Patriotic Party (NPP) members.

In a recent statement, Bishop Dr. Adu emphasized that the challenges currently affecting the country, including the high cost of living, unemployment, and insufficient access to essential services, require urgent attention from the new administration. He expressed concerns that attempts to target members of the NPP in a bid to satisfy supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) would not resolve the nation’s crises.

Bishop Dr. Adu highlighted the need for President Mahama to prioritize the well-being of the Ghanaian people. He called for action to address the soaring costs of goods and services, which have placed significant pressure on families across the country. The clergyman also underscored the importance of improving employment opportunities, ensuring reliable access to education, and maintaining a stable supply of electricity and fuel.

“The Ghanaian people are not interested in political witch-hunting. What they want is the government’s attention on the issues that matter most to them—jobs, affordable education, consistent electricity, and a stable supply of petrol,” Bishop Dr. Adu stated.

He further expressed his belief that a focus on addressing these fundamental needs would be the most effective way for President Mahama to secure the support of Ghanaians and foster national unity.

While urging the new president to avoid any form of political persecution, Bishop Dr. Adu also called on Ghanaians to rally behind the president-elect in his efforts to move the country forward. He stressed that the success of Ghana’s development hinged on a collective effort and cooperation from all citizens, regardless of their political affiliations.

“Let us support President Mahama as he leads the nation into a new phase of development. It is only through unity and shared vision that we can overcome the challenges we face and build a prosperous future for all,” Bishop Dr. Adu added.

The clergyman’s comments come at a time when the political atmosphere in Ghana remains tense, with concerns over the political transition following the December elections. While President Mahama’s victory has been celebrated by his supporters, his administration faces the difficult task of uniting a divided nation and addressing the numerous socio-economic challenges that have intensified in recent years.

Bishop Dr. J.Y. Adu’s call for focus on the welfare of Ghanaians over political retribution resonates with many who believe that healing the country’s wounds requires forward-thinking policies rather than divisive actions.

As President Mahama prepares to take office, it is clear that his leadership will be tested not only by the demands of governance but also by the expectations of Ghanaians who hope for tangible improvements in their daily lives.
