On Christmas Day, December 26th, 2024, the Prince Asamany Foundation spread holiday cheer to over 800 street children, mentally ill persons, refugees, and other marginalized individuals, providing them with food, clothing, and essential support worth millions of cedis. The event, which took place in several locations around Kumasi, aimed to bring joy and comfort to those who are often overlooked during the festive season.
Mr. Prince Asamany, the founder and president of the Prince Asamany Foundation, led the charitable initiative with the help of his team of volunteers. The outreach was conducted at key sites in the Kumasi Metropolitan area, including Kumasi Amakom, WAEC Street, Asafo, and Kumasi Jubilee Park.
In an interview, Mr. Asamany shared that the foundation’s primary mission was to provide relief to the most vulnerable members of society, particularly street children and mentally ill individuals, during the Christmas season.
“We want to bring smiles to the faces of the needy, especially street children and the mentally ill,” said Mr. Asamany. “I understand the struggles of these children because I have been in similar circumstances. If their families were able to care for them, they wouldn’t have to suffer on the streets. Our goal is to make this holiday season a little brighter for them.”
The beneficiaries, who expressed their gratitude in their local dialects, were deeply moved by the kindness shown by the foundation. A mother of street children expressed, “May God bless the Prince Asamany Foundation with long life to continue helping the needy. We have never experienced anything like this. Life has been hard since we moved from Boko in the Upper West Region, and we rely on begging. Today, we have received something to eat, and we are truly grateful.”
Farti, a physically challenged man who also benefited from the outreach, said with emotion, “I struggle every day to get food because of my condition. I am so happy today to receive something to eat. This is a blessing, and I am thankful.”
The Prince Asamany Foundation has shown unwavering dedication to improving the lives of vulnerable individuals, and this Christmas celebration was another example of its commitment to bringing hope to those in need. By offering both material and emotional support, the foundation continues to make a significant difference in the lives of many in Kumasi, reaffirming its role as a pillar of compassion and social responsibility in the community.
