Hon. Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah Supports First-Year SHS Students with Donations and Mentorship in Manhyia South

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary Candidate for Manhyia South Constituency, Hon. Lawyer Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, has demonstrated his commitment to education and youth empowerment by donating essential provisions and financial support to first-year Senior High School (SHS) students in his constituency. This donation, which includes various supplies needed for boarding school, aims to alleviate some of the financial pressures on parents and guardians as they support their children’s academic journeys.

In a speech delivered at the donation event, Hon. Baffour Awuah explained that his assistance extends beyond just meeting the students’ immediate needs. He expressed that his goal is to mentor and inspire these young learners, motivating them to work diligently and recognize the opportunities that education can create. “Education is a powerful tool for change,” he said. “I encourage you to focus on your studies, as it will enable you to bring positive change not only to your lives but also to our community and our country.”

Hon. Baffour Awuah also acknowledged the contributions of the NPP government in making education more accessible through its Free SHS policy, which has eliminated tuition fees for secondary education in Ghana. He described the policy as a milestone in Ghana’s education system, removing financial barriers and allowing many students who might have otherwise been unable to afford secondary education the opportunity to pursue their academic ambitions. “The government is committed to making education available to all, and I am here to support this vision within our community,” he added.

Beyond his support for SHS students, Hon. Baffour Awuah outlined additional plans to further develop Manhyia South, including providing vocational training for unemployed youth. According to him, this training initiative is intended to equip young people with practical skills in trades such as carpentry, tailoring, and hairstyling, preparing them to establish small businesses or pursue careers in skilled professions. “By investing in vocational training, we are creating a community where youth have the skills they need to become self-reliant, financially independent, and active contributors to our local economy,” he explained.

Many of the parents and students present expressed gratitude for the donation. Parents shared that the gesture would ease the financial burden of sending their children to SHS, while students shared their enthusiasm and renewed commitment to academic excellence. Hon. Baffour Awuah’s initiative reflects his dedication to nurturing the potential of young people within Manhyia South and supporting the broader vision of educational advancement and economic empowerment in Ghana.
