The Category Lead for Cereals at Promasidor Ghana, Miss Emmeline Tagoe, has encouraged Ghanaians to prioritize locally produced goods over imported ones, stressing that this change could fuel national progress and economic development.
Speaking at a health and wellness event held by Promasidor Ghana at Kumasi Girls Senior High School, Miss Tagoe emphasized the importance of reshaping public perceptions about locally made products. “When we embrace our locally produced goods, we contribute directly to the country’s growth, helping to create jobs and strengthen the manufacturing sector,” she stated.
Promasidor Ghana, known for popular brands such as Cowbell, Twisco, Onga, Yumvita, and Miksi, continues to be a leader in producing affordable, nutritious food products for the Ghanaian market. Miss Tagoe explained that Promasidor Ghana’s focus is on maintaining high standards for quality. “Our commitment is to bring the best products not only to Ghanaians but to the world,” she added, highlighting the company’s role in supporting the local economy.
During the event, which combined a workout session with health education on breast cancer awareness and menstrual hygiene, Miss Tagoe urged the government to support private industries by considering tax exemptions, especially for import duties on raw materials. “Since there are limited local sources for essential production materials, private industries rely on imports. If the government could ease taxes on these imports, it would greatly benefit local industries and help keep them competitive,” she remarked.
Receiving positive feedback from the students and faculty at Kumasi Girls Senior High School, Promasidor Ghana pledged to continue these health and wellness initiatives in the future. Miss Tagoe noted that the company values its partnership with the students, who represent a loyal customer base for their products. “These students are already consumers of our products, and this engagement fosters a connection that will hopefully last for years to come,” she said.
The event at Kumasi Girls Senior High School was part of Promasidor Ghana’s broader mission to promote health, quality nutrition, and local economic support. Miss Tagoe’s call for Ghanaians to support local products highlights an important push toward self-reliance and sustainable development in the country.
