In a bid to promote healthcare access and improve the well-being of his constituents, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate for the Manhyia South Constituency, Lawyer Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, has organized a free health screening and National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) registration for hundreds of residents.
The health outreach, held at three key locations—Serwaa Nyarko Senior High School, Abis Park, and Former Antoa Station—provided comprehensive medical services to participants. The initiative, which marked Breast Cancer Awareness Month, included screenings for eye conditions, diabetes, prostate cancer, and breast cancer, among other health checks. Beneficiaries also had the opportunity to register for free under the NHIS, ensuring they have access to healthcare services beyond the event.
Addressing the gathering, Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah emphasized the importance of good health in national development. “Our country’s progress depends on having a healthy and strong population. It is only through a healthy workforce that we can drive development, and that is why I have made it a priority to help improve healthcare services in Manhyia South,” he said.
He also expressed his determination to address the healthcare challenges facing the constituency, stating that finding solutions to the problems affecting the community is one of his top priorities. He encouraged the residents to prioritize regular medical check-ups and take preventive measures against illnesses, especially with conditions like breast cancer and prostate cancer, which require early detection for effective treatment.
During the exercise, free medication was provided to those who needed it, while individuals with more serious medical conditions were referred to appropriate health facilities for further treatment. Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah noted that this was only the beginning of his efforts to improve healthcare in the area, pledging to continue such initiatives if elected as the Member of Parliament for Manhyia South.
The NPP parliamentary candidate also used the occasion to appeal to the constituents to vote for him and the NPP’s presidential candidate, Dr. Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia, in the upcoming December 7 general elections. “Let’s continue the work of transforming our constituency and nation by voting for Dr. Bawumia as president and myself as your Member of Parliament. Together, we can achieve great things for Manhyia South,” he urged.
Many of the beneficiaries expressed their gratitude for the gesture, praising Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah for his dedication to their health and well-being. They commended him for addressing their healthcare needs and pledged their support for his parliamentary candidacy.
The health screening and NHIS registration exercise were hailed as a great success, providing residents with much-needed health services and positioning healthcare as a key priority in the constituency’s development agenda.
In addition to the health outreach, Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah visited ongoing road construction projects in the constituency, specifically the work being carried out by Cymain Ghana Limited at the CPC area. He expressed satisfaction with the progress of the project, praising the contractor for the quality of work. He highlighted that improving infrastructure is a key component of his development agenda for the constituency, noting that good roads are essential for improving livelihoods and ensuring access to essential services.
