The Ghana Education Service (GES) in the Ashanti Region has received a significant boost ahead of the 2024 edition of the Ghana Teacher Prize. Twellium Industrial Company Limited, as part of its corporate social responsibility, has provided support to the regional GES with 12,000 bottles of water and carbonated soft drinks to be served to participants during the three-day event in Kumasi.
The Ghana Teacher Prize 2024, scheduled to take place from Thursday, October 3 to Saturday, October 5, 2024, is aimed at recognizing and celebrating exceptional teachers across the country. This annual event, formerly known as the National Best Teacher Award, acknowledges educators who demonstrate outstanding commitment to their profession, significantly impacting the lives of students.
Speaking at the donation event, the Ashanti Regional Deputy Director for the GES expressed gratitude to Twellium Industrial Company Limited for their generous contribution. He noted that the awards programme would commence on Thursday and Friday with a symposium at Sunset Hotel, Kumasi. The symposium will feature the Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, as the guest of honor.
The grand finale of the Ghana Teacher Prize 2024 will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2024, at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST). President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is expected to attend the grand durbar, further underscoring the importance of the event in the nation’s educational landscape.
This year’s theme, *”Valuing Teacher Voices Towards a New Social Contract for Education,”* emphasizes the critical role teachers play in shaping education policies and reforms. The theme also underscores the importance of empowering educators to ensure an inclusive, quality education system that benefits all.
Mr. Thomas Kwame Boateng, a representative of the GES, highlighted that the awards would cover both teaching and non-teaching staff within the region, aiming to motivate all educational workers to give their best in improving the sector. He praised Twellium for their support, noting that such gestures contribute to the smooth running of the event.
On behalf of Twellium Industrial Company Limited, Ashanti Regional Trade Marketing Manager, Mr. Patrick Yeboah, reiterated the company’s commitment to supporting education and recognizing the vital role teachers play in national development.
