OTUMFUO OBRENPONG TABONO BONSO APPLAUDS BEKWAI POLICE FOR FIGHTING GALAMSEY

 

On July 18, 2024, Otumfuo Akwanwenye Obrenpong Tabono Bonso III, the chief of Akyease in the Juaben Municipality of the Ashanti Region, issued a 24-hour ultimatum to illegal miners in the Akyease enclave. He demanded that they cease operations, remove all mining equipment from their sites, and vacate the community within the specified time.

The following night, a team of police personnel from various sections of the region, organized by the Bekwai Police Command, conducted an operation at the Akyease Galamsey site. They successfully arrested several illegal miners.

Akyeasehene Obrenpong Tabono Bonso III commended the Bekwai Regional Police Command for their decisive action. He expressed confidence in the Bekwai Regional Police Commander and emphasized the importance of tackling illegal mining. “I hope they prepare the arrested individuals for court on Monday,” stated Akyeasehene, underscoring the community’s commitment to fighting illegal mining activities.
