Nana Amoako Tuffour has been officially removed from his position as Abadwumhene by Oguahyia Oduro Panin Birikorang I, the overlord of the New Edubiase traditional area. This decision was made during a traditional council meeting held at the New Edubiase palace on August 13, 2014.
The removal follows serious allegations of gross misconduct against Nana Tuffour. The Queen Mother of Abadwum, Nana Akyaw Konadu Yiadom, accused him of showing persistent disrespect to his subchiefs and neglecting traditional festivals, including Awukudae and Akwasidae. The head of the Oyoko Royal family at Abadwum, Opanin Kwaku Asare, also supported these claims, emphasizing the chief’s disregard for his traditional duties.
Queen Mother Nana Akua Dwum II of New Edubiase expressed her shock at Nana Tuffour’s behavior, stating that his actions made him unfit to continue in his role. The paramount chief, Oguahyia Oduro Birikorang I, confirmed that Nana Tuffour had repeatedly failed to respond to council summons, leading to his destoolment.
