Fetish Priests’ Association Proposes Traditional Oaths to Curb Corruption

In a bid to combat corruption, the Fetish Priests and Priestesses Association of the Ashanti Region has suggested that politicians and public officials swear oaths using traditional deities instead of religious texts.

Nana Kwaku Bonsam, leader of the association, made this proposal at a news conference today, ahead of the December 2024 general elections. He believes that using eggs and schnapps in traditional oaths could instill a greater sense of accountability and fear of retribution among politicians, deterring corrupt behavior more effectively than oaths taken on the Bible or Quran.

“Swearing by the traditional gods could serve as a powerful deterrent against corruption,” Nana Kwaku Bonsam emphasized. “We are confident that this practice would bring an end to the pervasive corruption issues in the country.”

The association is calling for unity among its members to promote their religion and contribute to national development. They are also willing to mobilize funds and offer significant electoral support to any political party that backs their proposal in the upcoming 2024 general elections.

This unconventional approach to tackling corruption has sparked interest and debate ahead of the elections.
