The Acting president of the Association of 7th Day Pentecostal Assemblies in Kumasi, pastor Akwasi Addai Macaiah who allegedly asserted on a TV programme that the Supreme Court has declared him as the President-elect of the church has now come to the realization that he has cut the wrong side of the meat.
Currently the Solicitors of his (Macaiah Addai) rivals Elder Ofori Jnr and group) in the church’s legal battle on leadership right, Lawyer Charles Agbenu of Yaanom Chambers in Kumasi have dragged him (Addai) before the Appeal Court in Kumasi to defend why he violated the court directives.
According to source close to Yaanom Chambers headed by a seasoned legal pundit Lawyer Charles Agbenu, the law firm finds it prudent to cite Akwasi Addai for contempt of court for failing to carry out the orders of the court in a judgement delivered on 28th April 2022.
Since 2009 the Association of 7th Day Pentecostal Assemblies has been confronted with leadership crisis following the passage of the President/founder of the church, Elder Enoch Ofori Snr.
The situation later turned into a legal battle between pastor Akwasi Addai and Elder Enoch Ofori Jnr and his group when the other side suspected Akwasi Addai on a manner to violate the church’s constitution to impose himself as the substantial president of the Assembly.
Elder Ofori Jnr and 21 branches of the church been plaintiffs, Pastor Akwasi Addai who stands in as defendant had been floored several times by courts and asked to follow the church constitution and right procedures to elect president, but contempts have been his stock in trade.
Readers can recalled that pastor Macaiah Akwasi Addai made headlines in the various media houses and social media platforms in last year 2023.
This was when he viciously refused to comply with the Court of Appeal’s earlier judgements against him.
The courts in its judgements directed that pastor Addai should comply with a proper procedures in line with the church constitution to conduct elections and appoint a right leader to steer the affairs of the church, but contempts tend to be his lot.
The Ashanti Regional branch office of the Electoral Commission has earlier thrown him out when he (Akwasi Addai Macaiah) requested for elections in last year but refused to comply with lawful measures.
On May 5, 2023, pastor Akwasi Addai rendered apologies to the Supreme Court of Ghana for maliciously using its name to organize fake elections and declaring himself as a president of the church.
This was when the Solicitors of Elder Enoch Ofori Jnr and group been plaintiffs, lawyer Charles Agbenu had filed a contempt case against Pastor Addai for conducting unofficial elections without the consent of his clients Elder Enoch Ofori Jnr and group.
On Wednesday June 5, 2024 when a fresh contempt case was brought by Elder Enoch Ofori Jnr group’s lawyer Charles Agbenu against Pastor Addai before the Appeal Court of Ghana in Kumasi, Her Ladyship, Justice Angelia Mensah Homiah gave the Applicants (Elder Enoch Ofori Jnr and group) seven days to respond to the Respondent (pastor Akwasi Addai’s affidavit in opposition.
Her Ladyship further gave Akwasi Addai (Respondent) also seven days to respond to the Applicants (Elder Ofori Jnr and group) supplementary affidavit.
According to intensive probe carried out by our outfit, pastor Akwasi Addai has since 2023 involved in serious scandals ranging from court cases to sexual escapade.
Apart from his usual church battle with his church rivals, the man of God was dragged to the Manhyia Palace by a church member one Mr Adjei who alleged that his pastor, pastor Akwasi Addai had influenced and snatched his wife whom he had stayed with her for 21 years.
At the Manhyia palace when the case was called the pastor who already had two wives was found guilty.
The four member panel chaired by Kumasi Kaasehene, Nana Ababio slapped pastor Addai with a fine of Ghc 2500.00 as a compensation to the church member of which Addai quickly.
in the same last year 2023, the same Manhyia Palace prevailed on him ( Pastor Macaiah Akwasi Addai to storm a Kumasi based Sompa Fm to retract three times, an unfounded allegations he levelled against his church rival, Elder Enoch Ofori Jnr and his family members on air.
Akwasi Addai quickly complied with the Manhyia directives, when the family members of the elder dragged the pastor to the Royal Palace to justify his false allegations against them.
