Residents of Aberewapong in the Asante Akim north municipalilty of Ashanti region on Wednesday 31, January 2024, morning hit the streets to demonstrate against management of Eco Planet Bamboo company limited.
The aggrieved residents during the demonstration blocked roads linking the community while accusing the company of taking over their farmland.
Some residents shared their grievances to Joseph Amoateng and called on the government to come to their aid to ensure that they have received share of farmland to promote agricbusiness.
The assembly member for Aberewapong electoral area, Hon Felix Akpable also called on the government through forestry commission to help maintain peace in the community.
In his response, the chief of Aberewapong, Nana Opoku Nyantakyi Okogyeadee expressed worry about the situation and called on the member of parliament for Asante Akim north and traditional council of Agogo to help resolve the land dispute between the farmers and the afforestation company.
