Galamsey Fight: Otumfour Mmentiahene expressed his disappointment in Government

Otumfour Mmentiahene Nana Tweneboah Koduah has openly expressed his disappointment in the NPP government led by Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo Addo for leaving out traditional authorities and District Assemblies behind on the fight against galamsey activities in the country.

He said government alone cannot used security forces to Stop the mining activities unless he involves traditional authorities and District Assemblies since they abreast with every Forest and water bodies in the various Communities.

He said traditional authorities have pledged their commitment and unflinching support to government in his effort to end the illegal mining activities in the country.

He said if care is not taken traditional authorities will rise up to demonstrate against president Akuffo Addo for taken their lands from them.

Nana Tweneboah Koduah otumfour Mmentiahene said it’s only chiefs and District Assemblies can make sure uncovered pits by miners are totally reclaimed for future use.

However, Nana Tweneboah Koduah otumfour Mmentiahene also stated emphatically that government has shown discrimination on the fight against galamsey activities because some government officials are still working in some of our Forest reserves meanwhile he has ordered small scale miners to bring home their machines from the site.
